Typographic Oscar Robertson Poster

Objective:
Create a poster that combines typographic elements and imagery to showcase legendary Cincinnati natives and advertise an upcoming event honoring them.
Research & Sketches
I researched typographic posters that put emphasis on the type but also highlight the imagery used. My sketches involve simplistic type along with loud, bold designs.
Iterations & Process
I created various kinds of designs that use images from my camera roll and then layer text over them. One of the main challenges of this project was fitting all the necessary information within the poster.
Revised Iterations
In my revisions, I focused more on Oscar Robertson's basketball number and how to incorporate basketball elements into the poster. I chose a red and black color scheme to pay tribute to Robertson's college career at the University of Cincinnati. Additionally, I played around with the placement of the name and headline.
Final
This poster design pays tribute to Oscar Robertson's legacy at the University of Cincinnati and the city of Cincinnati. The detail of the number 14 shows Cincinnati's basketball court where Robertson played. I wanted to put emphasis on how Robertson left an impact on the university and how his name is recognized all across the globe.
