Atlanta Airport App
Spring 2025
Objective:
The purpose of this design is to help newer and inexperienced travelers find their gate and make it to their flight on time. After using the app, the traveler should feel confident the next time they go to the airport.
Research & Sketches
Airport apps have to contain a lot of overwhelming information, but the best ones condense the information in a way that is easy for users to follow and navigate. I took inspiration from designs that were simple yet appealing to the user. I started by sketching out the possible outlines of the app and small designs that could possibly be used for screens.
Iterations & Process
After sketching and making benchmarks, I start constructing my kit of parts and a rough draft of what I want my screens to look like. While this is still the beginning of the process, I started to get an idea of how I wanted the app to look and feel for the users. Mainly, I was focusing on the look of my title, arrival, and departure headings.
Color Iterations
While deciding what colors I should use for the app, I chose the sans-serif font "Outfit" to be used for the entire design. After experimenting with different color palettes, I found that blue hues were the most effective choice for the app. I also experimented with having a light or dark interface and decided on light.
Final Critiques
The blue interface makes the screens easy to read and helpful for users traveling in the Atlanta airport. As someone who can find traveling stressful, especially in airports, my goal was to create a design that makes travel stress-free.
